Welcome to Kindergarten!!

What a great first day and a half we have had! We are getting to know each other's names and making friends. This is a great group of children and I am so looking forward to this school year. Here are some notes about this week, as well as a few reminders. Remember to feel free to email me any questions you may have.

Tuesday
Today we had our first full day. We did a lot too! The room wasn't too warm, and we were able to do a lot of work today. This week and next each day we will be learning about a different color. Today we learned about the color RED! We played I Spy and found items in the room that were red, everyone did a great job. We also voted on a name for our pet Hermit Crab. His name is now Kerbie! He even came out of his shell today to visit with us!

Each child shared there favorite thing they did over Summer Break and here is what they said...
Cassidy...Went to a hotel next door to her house.
Jack....Went to his Aunt's cabin by the lake.
Victoria...Went Swimming with her Nonnie.
Brian...Went to a Hotel
Rory...Swam in a pool.
Nicole...Went to Jamaica with her Mom.
Sebastian...Swam in his Uncle's pool with a slide.
Mary...Went to Georgia and saw a cave with lots of lizards.
Tommy...Went to a hotel to swim.
Ryan...Played with David all Summer long!
Alejandro...Went to Florida where there was a jacuzzi.

August 31st ~ September 4th

We made it through our first week and it was a great one! I can't believe how much progress we have made already. We are getting used to some of the routines of our day and working on others.
One important memo that I have is that we are desperately seeking lunch moms/dads, grandmas/grandpas. Our lunch time is from 12:00 to 12:30 and your duties would be to monitor the children during lunch time. It goes by soo quick and the kids love it when they know their mom/dad is coming to lunch. If you are interested please contact Janet Potrawski 708-229-2814 OR 708-601-2814. Thanks in advance :)

Kindergarten is also very lucky to have two Marist High School Helpers join us. Mr. Rich and Ms. Holly will be joining Mrs. Revis and I in the afternoons for about an hour to help in any way we need.

Here's a look at the week ahead...
Monday
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSHUA! What a great birthday it has been so far Josh. We had a visit this morning from the office birthday bear to sing Josh a special "Happy Birthday." Thanks for the M & M's! They were very yummy.
In Reading we have started learning the "Cc" sound. We only learn the hard c sound, as you hear in cat, car, etc... Please review this with your child at home too.
Tuesday
Homework: Letter Cc picture page. This is due back on Wednesday.
Wednesday
In Music this week we will be moving and grooving to different animal songs. Our classroom will hopefully sound like a zoo :)
Thursday
Homework: Letter Cc printing page. Please have your child try their best!! This is due back on Friday.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RORY! We can't wait to celebrate your special day!
Lucky, our class puppy, will make his first home visit. Lucky is very excited to go home to the Boland house, and I think Tommy is pretty excited too!
Your child's quilt sheet is due back today too. This was given out last Friday. I have already received them and they are looking great!
Our first Riddle of the Week Homework will be sent home on Friday. These are due back on Monday. But I understand that many weekends we are very busy, so they are always welcomed on Tuesdays too.
Rest towels and lunch mats will be sent home, please remember to bring them back on Monday.
Have a great week and a nice long weekend!
