November 2nd ~ 6th

I hope everyone enjoyed their Halloween weekend! The kids told me all about their trick or treating and all the candy they received. Also, I wanted to thank Mrs. McNamara and ALL the other parents who helped out at the Halloween party. It was a great party and the kids are still talking about the fun games they played and the masks they made. The whole class was very thankful to all the parents who sent treats in! The bags were FILLED by the time we left on Friday :) A blue umbrella was left in my room after the party. I have asked the kids if it was any of their parents, but no one has claimed it. So, if you are missing a blue umbrella just let me know and I can send it home.

We are learning about the Bible in Religion. I told the students they may bring in a Bible of their own today to share with the class.

Friday
Library books are due back.
Report Cards will be coming home. Please review them with your child. I tell them that even if they get a "N" for needs improvement, that it is not a bad thing, it is very hard to get all "S" for satisfactory. But, they should still be aware of what they may need to spend some more time on.

Have a great week! If you have any questions, let me know!

Thank you to all of the parents who visited me on parent-teacher conference night. It is always nice to sit down and speak with you regarding your child. I have so many wonderful students, it was very easy to tell you all the great things I see in school. If anyone ever has any questions throughout this year or if you would like to speak with me, do not hesitate to call or email me to set up a time to meet.

We are preparing for Thanksgiving in our room and we have been making lots of fun crafts. We are also discussing why we are so thankful for our family, you will be receiving a book each child made about their family next week, they are currently hanging in the hall. I have also taught the class 3 Thanksgiving Day songs, and I am pretty sure they all know them by heart. Ask your child to sing you them, they are really cute :)

November 30th ~ December 4th

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! Many of the kids were very excited to come in this morning and tell me all about their weekend and how they decorated for Christmas. We were lucky to decorate our classroom today for Christmas! We put up a small Christmas tree and will be making some ornaments for it soon! Our classroom was filled with Christmas cheer as we sang Christmas songs while decorating, we are also starting our countdown to Christmas in the hallway. Each day we will add a cotton ball to Santa's beard and evenutally his beard will be full and Christmas will be here.
Here is a look at this week...

Monday
Letter Ii picture page for homework. Remember that we only learn the short i sound, as in igloo, inch, and ill. These are due back tomorrow.
CONGRATS to Sammy, he is our Star of the Week!!
Scholastic book orders were sent home. Please return them by Friday, December 4th, to ensure delivery by Christmas break.
Our new word list was sent home for letter Ii. Please remember to spend some time each night with your child reading the new words. When we have extra time in class we play hangman using our words we can read, this would be lots of fun at home too!

Tuesday
I will begin testing the students for their progress report. On your child's progress report, they will be expected to read 10 different words that we have learned in school. (These are all words that have been in our letter book, as well as on your word list). Your child will also be expected to print numbers 1 through 10. We are doing well with our numbers, but I am still seeing some reversals, tomorrow I will be sending home number printing for homework. If you need extra printing paper, just ask :)
We will be taking our next picture with our class tree! Check in tomorrow for the picture.

Wednesday
In Religion we are discussing how our families are a sign of God's love. If you can, please send in a picture of your family for your child to share with the class.
Number printing practice for homework, due back tomorrow.

Thursday

Friday
Progress Reports are being sent home.
Rest towels are coming home.
Scholastic Book Orders are due. Remember you can still go online and order!

Just a reminder that we do try to go outside everyday, even if it just for a few minutes to get some fresh air. Hats, mittens, and scarves are great!
Have a great week!
