December 7th ~ 11th

We were all so excited to see the first snowfall this morning! I know the kids were sad it melted by the time we left for school, but I'm sure there is more in our forecast :)
A big thank you to Mr. Baker! He brought in a package of extra winter hats and gloves! This way if your child forgets his/her gloves or hat we can still go outside and enjoy the fresh air. Unless it gets too cold, we will try to go out everyday, even just for a few minutes.
Here is a look at the week ahead...
Monday
Congratulations Jack ~ Star of the Week!!
We had a visit from St. Nicholas today, each child was given a candy cane!
This is our second week learning letter Ii, and we are all enjoying finding new words that begin with /i/. Today the class drew pictures of Ii words and I was amazed at their talent! From inch worms to igloos, the pictures were great! They will come home on Friday with all the letter Ii papers.
Homework: Letter Ii printing page, due back tomorrow.

Tuesday
All School Mass at 10:00am.

Wednesday
We will be practicing for our Christmas Concert. As I said in my newsletter, we will be singing Rudolph, the red nosed Reindeer! The children are very excited. You can ask your child to sing it for you at home to practice, we are all sounding really great!

Friday

December 14th ~ 18th

What a busy and fun week we have ahead of us! We have been anxiously awaiting Christmas in our room, and we can't believe it is almost here!
As I mentioned in my newsletter, I forgot to send home the riddle for homework, I saw it sitting on my desk when I returned to my room after school was out!! So, we will be completing it in class. There will be no homework this week, as we are all very busy with different Christmas festivities :)
Last week we each wrote a letter to Santa Claus. I have a special mailbox in my classroom that goes directly to the North Pole, so we decided to give it a try and write letters to Santa. Well...this morning our letters were GONE! We aren't sure if Santa himself came to our classroom, some of us thought he might have sent an elf because he is so busy, but the letters were taken, and we were thrilled this morning to see the mailbox empty!!
Here is a look at this week...
Monday
We started with letter Tt in reading. A new word list went home today, and you may want to spend some time over Christmas break reviewing the words with your child. It is amazing how much we can forget over the break, so reviewing the words with your child is a great help. Also, when we get back from break we will have our first story in our letter book. You will be given a copy of the story to read with your child on Monday and we will be reading the stories on Wednesday. I read with the children in small groups and it is great to see how proud they are for reading their first story!
In Religion we have been reading a story each week about Advent. You may want to ask your child about them, we seem to be learning a lot and remembering a lot too!

Tuesday
Gingerbread Man Hunt! This should be a lot of fun! We will start off reading the first clue in our classroom, each clue will lead us to a different room in the school. Finally when we reach our final destination (the extended day room), we will find the gingerbread man and a special surprise! The surprise will be gingerbread cookies to decorate and enjoy! Check tomorrow for pictures!

Wednesday
Happy Birthday Victoria!!
Ice Cream $1.00. Please remember to place the dollar in your child's folder.
**Christmas Concert, 7pm in the Church** I hope everyone enjoys our song, we have been practicing every day and it shows. I can't wait to see them perform :)

Thursday
We will be finishing up many of our Christmas projects and many of them will be sent home. Friday is always a busy day and we usually have a lot to bring home, so I will be trying to send as much home as I can today. Please check your child's book bag and enjoy all the creative projects your child has made, I'm sure they will look lovely in your homes!
Also, a special gift from your child to you will be coming home as well, remember don't peek until Christmas :)

Friday
Ladies Guild Hot Lunch
Dress Down Day for $1.00. If you choose for your child to dress down please send him/her to school with $1.00. The proceeds will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.
Classroom Christmas Party, 10:00am to 11:00am. Mrs. McNamara will be throwing our party, please contact her if you would still like to help.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Break! Enjoy the holidays and I'll see you next year!!
And, a Happy Birthday to Ryan, who will be celebrating his birthday over Christmas Break!!

Gingerbread Hunt!

It was a lot of fun today searching for that gingerbread man! We finally found him in the extended day room with a great surprise. Here are some pictures to show our adventure :)

Here is our first clue! We found it in our classroom and it lead us to the office...gingerbrad%20001.jpg
Here we are at the office and Mrs. Delisi was kind enough to send us on our way with the second clue to 1st grade!gingerbrad%20002.jpg
Mrs. Lehnerer was kind enough to keep our 3rd clue safe, she found the gingerbread on her computer this morning!! Here she is leading us to the clue...gingerbrad%20003.jpg
After this clue we made our way to computers...gingerbrad%20005.jpg
Then we had to go all the way to Art and then our hardest clue was found! We had to go to middle school and search for a clue in Ms. Mossuto's room. Here we are searching...gingerbrad%20006.jpg
Our next stop was the preschool room, and finally this lead us to our last clue. We found this clue in the extended day room and we found our gingerbread man...
