What a busy and fun week we have ahead of us! We have been anxiously awaiting Christmas in our room, and we can't believe it is almost here!
As I mentioned in my newsletter, I forgot to send home the riddle for homework, I saw it sitting on my desk when I returned to my room after school was out!! So, we will be completing it in class. There will be no homework this week, as we are all very busy with different Christmas festivities :)
Last week we each wrote a letter to Santa Claus. I have a special mailbox in my classroom that goes directly to the North Pole, so we decided to give it a try and write letters to Santa. Well...this morning our letters were GONE! We aren't sure if Santa himself came to our classroom, some of us thought he might have sent an elf because he is so busy, but the letters were taken, and we were thrilled this morning to see the mailbox empty!!
Here is a look at this week...
Monday
We started with letter Tt in reading. A new word list went home today, and you may want to spend some time over Christmas break reviewing the words with your child. It is amazing how much we can forget over the break, so reviewing the words with your child is a great help. Also, when we get back from break we will have our first story in our letter book. You will be given a copy of the story to read with your child on Monday and we will be reading the stories on Wednesday. I read with the children in small groups and it is great to see how proud they are for reading their first story!
In Religion we have been reading a story each week about Advent. You may want to ask your child about them, we seem to be learning a lot and remembering a lot too!
Tuesday
Gingerbread Man Hunt! This should be a lot of fun! We will start off reading the first clue in our classroom, each clue will lead us to a different room in the school. Finally when we reach our final destination (the extended day room), we will find the gingerbread man and a special surprise! The surprise will be gingerbread cookies to decorate and enjoy! Check tomorrow for pictures!
Wednesday
Happy Birthday Victoria!!
Ice Cream $1.00. Please remember to place the dollar in your child's folder.
**Christmas Concert, 7pm in the Church** I hope everyone enjoys our song, we have been practicing every day and it shows. I can't wait to see them perform :)
Thursday
We will be finishing up many of our Christmas projects and many of them will be sent home. Friday is always a busy day and we usually have a lot to bring home, so I will be trying to send as much home as I can today. Please check your child's book bag and enjoy all the creative projects your child has made, I'm sure they will look lovely in your homes!
Also, a special gift from your child to you will be coming home as well, remember don't peek until Christmas :)
