Classroom 15 Connection

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a wonderful break. The children were very excited to tell me about the fun things they did!
April Class Tree Picture
We were ALL very excited to finally see leaves on our tree!! We noticed many differences from March besides the leaves. There was no snow on the ground and the grass was nice and green. We were not wearing heavy coats either, we just needed a sweatshirt today!

Here is a look at our week...

Monday
We started letter Ww, and it has been wonderful so far :)
I have also started testing the students on both their letters and numbers for the report cards coming home on Friday. The students will need to be able to print all uppercase and lowercase letters we have learned so far. They also need to print numbers 1 through 30. The students will need to blend sounds and read a variety of words. So far they have done fantastic! I am very impressed, especially with reading, many of the students are reading with ease!
Scholastic Book Orders went home today, they are due back on Friday. Remember you can order online too!

Tuesday
Yesterday in Math we started Addition. Today we will be doing some fun and tasty activities to get us more familiar with the concept of addition.

Wednesday
We will be reading our story. Please remember to practice at home, it's 3 pages this week!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!
We have a lot of upcoming events in Kindergarten, here is some info on everything. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Q & U Wedding!
A "Save the Date" went home regarding our upcoming Q & U wedding our class will be holding. This is a fun way to help the students remember that q and u need to be together to make the sound /kw/.
Each child in my class is given a party, I pulled names at random.
The day of the wedding, each child is to come to school in their wedding "attire". Please do not go out and buy anything, just whatever you have is fine! The day of the wedding, May 6th, we invite all of you to join us for the wedding. An inivitation will be going home next week with the time, but it will be around 11:00am. The actual wedding only lasts about 15 minutes.

Barraco's Pizza Field Trip!
Our field trip to Barraco's is next Wednedsay, April 28th. Please remember to send in your child's permission slip and money by this Wednesday, April 21st.
On the day of the field trip, we will be eating pizza at Barracos. Hot lunch will be canceled and please just send your child with a small snack to eat during lunch time. The students are also to wear their gym uniforms. We are getting very excited for it!

Kindergarten Picnic & Graduation
Information will be coming home this week regarding the Kindergarten Picnic and Graduation. I can't believe it is already time to start planning!! Please take time to go through this information and let me know if you have any questions.

A BIG thank you to Mr. Baker who surprised us at lunch today with some tasty slushies! It was a great way to "cool" down during lunch! The students, and myself :) really enjoyed them!

Field Trip Permission Slips are due back.
We will be reading "Click! Click!" Last week I was amazed by our reading. It seems that each week we improve and the students are so proud! Thank you for helping at home practicing the story, it really shows!!
Thursday
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMMY!
Earth Day ~ we will be discussing how to keep our Earth nice and clean. I also have a small craft we will be doing to elebrate the day.
Friday
Take home books and Library books are due back.

Today I asked each of the boys and girls to tell me their address and phone number. Several of the students did not know one or both. Please practice this important information with your child. I will be quizzing them next week.

On Wednesday a form went home to all incoming Kindergartners through 2nd grade about Sunsational Summer Camp. Ms. Krahn and I will be implementing a four week summer camp here at Saint Linus! I hope you consider sending your son or daughter. Ms. Krahn and I are both really excited about this program and are looking forward to a fun filled summer with your child. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Wow! This is a busy time of year! I would really like to thank all the parents for the great job you are doing returning all the "forms" being sent home. With our picnic, graduation, after school classes, summer camp, school supplies, and other forms that were sent home to you, everyone has been so helpful...Thank You!

I can't believe after this week we only have three letters left to learn, this year has really gone by fast and I have enjoyed all of your children so much!

Field Trip to Barraco's Pizza...Yum! The entire class is so excited, and I am too!

You should be receiving an invitation to the Q and U wedding! We will now be preparing for the next week, we hope everyone can make it!

Arbor Day: In the morning we will be going out to the Football Field for a planting of a tree.
