November- Happy Thanksgiving

Thank you to all who came to the Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday, November 13. It was wonderful meeting all of you, and hopefully we both gained much from this experience.

Math- we are currently working on a unit on Time, Calendar, and Median, Mode and Range. The students are enjoying this chapter, and will probably be tested on Monday or Tuesday, the 24th or 25th of November.

Social Studies- we are studying Free Enterprise System of the U.S. and they will be working on a project of their own choice. They will be bringing home the choices today, and it will be due next Tuesday, November 25th. I am sure they will have fun while learning about their free choice to choose a career of their choosing.

Religion- we are studying about the Baptism of Christ, and all of the symbols and ceremony surrounding this sacrament.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving, and then Christmas is just around the corner!!

October

TIme is moving fast. The 1st quarter will be over on October 24, 2008. The report cards will be handed out on Halloween!!

Math- we just finished a unit on addition, and we are now starting Chapter 4 on Subtraction.
It might be a good idea to quiz your child on their subtraction facts, just to keep them fresh in their mind. We will be borrowing with numbers, ans also with money.

Religion- We are studying for the Unit Test on Chapters 1-2-3-4.
Soon we will begin Chapter 5 on Jesus and His role in our lives.

Social Studies- We are learning about our government- local, state and national. We will also study the 3 branches of government. We will do a short unit on the election next week.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I am enjoying teaching your young children, and I hope they feel the same.

September is almost over!

We are nearing the end of September- the children are getting used to changing classes, and remembering to bring their supplies to each teacher. On October 1, we will not allow them to go back to their homeroom to get their missing supplies or homework. We feel this will make them more responsible, and more organized. This is an important part of 4th grade.

In math, we are studying money, giving change and counting up. We are coming to the end of Chapter 2, and will be having our Chapter 2 Test on Thursday.

In Religion, we are studying the Ten Commandments, and how we can follow them.

In Social Studies we are studying the Regions of the United States in Chapter 1. There are many new vocabulary words that they can study each night.
