Hope all is well with everyone this time of hope anticipating Spring and warm weather!

Math- We have finished the multiplication of 3 digits by 1 digit and the class did very well on their test this Monday. We are starting Chapter 11 on multiplying larger numbers. Please review their tables often. This is so important for memorizing and mastering their facts.

Religion- we are focusing on Lent and the passion of Our Lord. We will do many activities on this, and they are also making their own Stations of the Cross which will be due on Friday, March 5.

Social Studies- we are starting a unit on the Midwest. They seem very interested in this part of the U.S. since Illinois is one of the states included in this region.
Any questions, please feel free to contact me.

    Christmas Concert
We will be singing "So this is Christmas" by John Lennon for the Christmas program. Please practice the words with them- we only have a few days to practice ang get it memorized. I will let them have the words when we sing on the altar, but I would like them to learn it.

Everything is going well- we are moving at a steady pace in Math and Social Studies. After Chapter 6 on graphs, we will be starting Multiplication. Maybe they can practice their flash cards over the holidays!!!

Have a great holiday season- relax and enjoy the children, for soon they will be back in school and they are mine again!!!

Welcome to Red Ribbon Week- drug awareness for children in the elementary grades. We will be wearing red ribbons all week, with different activities planned for each day. We will emphasize the importance of being drug-free.

Social Studies
Today we had a test on Chapter 2 . I also included a Vocabulary Test which I took straight from their workbook. The Social studies tests are a bit more difficult because you have to carefully read the question to find the correct answer. Many students did well, but some seemed to forget everything we have been working on for the last 2 weeks. The students receive a study guide for each section of the chapter, with the vocabulary on the front. We make maps, and discuss each part in detail.. Please impress upon your child the importance of rereading the chapter for extra practice and understanding. Hopefully with more practice and studying at home, the next test will be much better!!

Math
We had our Chapter 5 test last Wednesday, and the students did very well on this. We covered rounding, addition, and estimation. I was very pleased with their grades. The classes seem to love math as much as I do!!
Religion
We will be starting a new chpater on the Baptism of Jesus, and the symbols surrounding this sacrament. We will be talking about their own Baptism, and if they can bring a picture of themselves in their christening outfits, I will display them on the bulletin board.

    Have a great Halloween!

Hello, My name is Mrs. Carol Minarik.
I will be teaching your children in 4th grade this year. I teach Math, Social Studies and Religion. We do many wonderful things in fourth grade, and I will try to keep you abreast of all the projects and long term homework that we will be doing this year.

Children may bring a snack in their lunch to have at mid-morning. There are times that we have a "working snack" time due to time constraints.

I will also be teaching Music Appreciation this year. We will start off the year learning about the Beatles, a personal favorite of mine.

If you have any questions or concerns, you may e-mail me at cminarik@stlinusschool.org.

Thank you for allowing to meet and teach your treasures,
