Fresh Start to the New Year

Hello everyone and welcome back to another school year. It seemed like just yesterday we were saying good bye to the students for the summer. Now in the blink of an eye, we are back ready to get the ball rolling again.

To start the year in P.E., our students will be participating in a wide variety of games and activities that center around football. Grades 1 and 2 will be playing different chasing games using flags. The students will learn how to put their flags on as well as pulling the flags off other students during chasing games.

Students in grades 3 through 5 will start to learn the basics of flag football as well as practicing how the basic game will be played. Students in grade 3 will continue to practice what they learned in grades 1 and 2 in addition to learning some basic passing routes and catching the ball out of these different routes. Students in grades 4 and 5 will learn how the game is played and the different procedures to play the game and feel some degree of success.

Grades 6 through 8 will be participating in their class leagues. This gives student the opportunity to see the other aspects of the sport. Students will participate in roles that maintain the flow of the game. They will be part of the officiating crew and of rules and game committees to solve problems that may arise during competition. It gives them a different perception of the game.
