ANNOUNCEMENTS AND HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEK OF FEB. 6TH-FEB. 10TH

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held this Thursday until 7:30 PM but, as I am certain that everyone is aware, conferences can be scheduled at any time and are not limited to the two "official" dates per year.

Students are dismissed at 11:30 AM on Thursday, and there is a day off on Friday!

Part I of the NJHS Spelling Bee was held last Wednesday and, because of those 3rd and 4th graders who knew their stuff, the Bee will be continued this Thursday at 9:00 AM for our 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade contestants.

Congratulations to Sydney Conn, the winner of the competition between the 3rd and 4th grade students!

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEK OF JAN. 16TH-JAN. 20TH

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Last Sunday's Mass with Cardinal George was inspirational and beautifully prepared, and the students who participated by singing, reading, and carrying cake did a great job!

The students who were at this Mass appreciated that it was an important occasion and enjoyed both the music and the ceremony, and thank you to those students who were in attendance. I hope that this helps all of you understand just how special our Blue Ribbon acknowledgement really is.

Report cards will be sent home this Friday so that means that this school year is half over already. It's hard to believe that we will all be back at the beach and/or in our pools soon!

For the next week or so, I will be teaching reading during Mrs. Swi's absence and, as scheduled, Ms. Halpin, our student teacher, will be teaching English. The English homework posted is from Ms. Halpin, and the reading homework which follows is being posted by me.

Please refer to the bottom of the blog for information regarding Mrs. Swi's reading homework.
ANNOUNCEMENTS AND HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEK OF OCT. 31ST - NOV. 4TH

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Happy Halloween!

The 7th grade students will receive their report cards on Friday, November 4th.

As I will be going to White Pines with the 6th and 8th grade students from Wednesday morning through Friday afternoon, and I do not know if I will have Internet access, any emails sent during that time may not be responded to until late Friday afternoon.

Teachers will be available for conferences on Thursday, November 10th, and unless parents are invited to a conference, attendance is optional. If you do plan on attending, you are welcome to include your child in the meeting. My experience has been that having a child attend the conference is typically helpful.

ANNOUNCEMENTS AND HOMEWORK FOR THE WEEK OF OCT. 24TH - OCT. 28TH

ANNOUNCEMENTS

NJHS and Student Council are sponsoring a group effort to provide supplies that will be sent to Marines in Afghanistan in time for Christmas. A letter was sent home last Friday that requested certain items for specific grades, but any and all donations on that list will be greatly appreciated.

This is Red Ribbon Week, and students may wear red on Friday.

The first quarter ends this Friday, and accepted late work may be turned in through Wednesday at 3:00.

Next Monday is Halloween, and students in grades 4-8 may wear black, orange, or purple. NJHS is collecting a $1.00 donation for this dress-down day, and the money will be given to the Oak Lawn Children's Museum as we hope to raise enough money to become a sponsor for the World Trade Center beams which will be placed on display.
