August 2011 Archives

August 30, 2011

Welcome back to school!! It was a great day today getting to know the sixth graders and our new students at Saint Linus! It was also wonderful to see the seventh and eighth graders for a new school year! All of the students received a paper detailing my social studies class that I would like signed and returned tomorrow. The eighth graders received a permission slip to watch In Memoriam: New York City. This is due by September 6th.

6th Grade
The sixth graders learned about the five themes of geography. Then, they created their own country and described it through these themes. If the worksheet was not finished in class, it is for homework. Also, students were assigned their country and the date of their presentation for “country of the day.”

7th Grade
We listened to a song about the discovery of America. Students then received their chapter 1 study guide. Next, we read chapter 1 section 1. Students then got into groups and read articles about the first three civilizations in America. We will finish the group work tomorrow.

8th Grade
Students were given their Constitution books from last year and we began our study on the Illinois Constitution. Students received their Illinois Constitution study guide. The questions on page 54 in their books are homework if they were not finished in class.

Religion
Students wrote their own original prayers that we will use to begin Religion class from now on.
