October 3, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected our homework from last week. Students then wrote their favorite quote or saying using cuneiform.

7th Grade
We corrected our CYP from 3.1. We then read 3.2 together as a class. The Henry Spelman narrative is due on Wednesday. It must be typed.

8th Grade
The eighth graders reviewed for their chapter 17 test on Wednesday. Study guides are also due at this time.

Religion
We reviewed the story of Noah and the Arc. Students then picked a verse from Somewhere Over the Rainbow and drew a picture about it. We will put together a class book!

Spanish (Room 20)
Students had a quiz over what we have learned so far.

October 4, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders read chapter 2 lesson 3 while completing a reading guide. Lesson questions 2-5 were also assigned. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
We surfed through a web quest as a class about the Salem Witch Trials.

8th Grade
Dr. Stritch came into the class to talk about the history of the Pullman Historical District. The chapter 17 test is tomorrow. Study guides are also due at this time.

Religion
Students completed their Somewhere Over the Rainbow drawings and also a worksheet about the scripture stories we have read so far.

October 5, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected our homework from yesterday. I also passed out information about our first social studies project—the students will design their own Code of Hammurabi. This will be due on Friday, October 14th. Students then worked on workbook page 11. If it was not finished in class, it is for homework.

7th Grade
We read chapter 3.3 as a class. Students then shared their Henry Spelman narrative essays and I collected them.

8th Grade
The eighth graders took their chapter 17 test. Study guides were also collected.

Religion
We read about Saint Paul and answered questions about our reading.

Spanish (Room 26)
We reviewed our numbers and learned a new phrase. Students received a worksheet that is due next time we meet. There will be a quiz over what we have learned so far in two weeks.

October 6, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected our workbook page from yesterday as a class. We then viewed a PowerPoint about the civilizations in Mesopotamia. Students were then given time to work on their Code of Hammurabi project due next Friday. Their chapter 3 test is also due on Friday.

7th Grade
We read chapter 3.4 together as a class. Students were assigned CYP questions 1 and 2 and also a double sided worksheet. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework. Their test over chapter 3 will be on Thursday.

8th Grade
The eighth graders watched a video on immigration and cultural change.

Religion
Students completed a crossword puzzle over chapter 3.

Spanish (Room 18)
Students took a quiz over what we have learned so far.

October 12, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected our homework from yesterday. Students worked in partners to complete the main idea section of the chapter review. We also reviewed chapter 2. The chapter 2 test will be on Friday. Study guides will also be due at this time. The Code of Hammurabi is due on Friday as well.

7th Grade
We corrected some of the chapter 3 worksheets. Students then had time to work on their study guides in class. The chapter 3 test will be on Friday. Study guides are also do at this time.

8th Grade
We began reading chapter 18.1 as a class. Students received a chart for them to list the different inventions of this time. The worksheet is for homework if it was not finished in class.

Religion
We corrected the Chapter Review and spent some time on our Faith Journal. The chapter 3 test is tomorrow.

Spanish (Room 26)
We reviewed what we have learned so far. Our first quiz will be next Wednesday.

October 13, 2011

6th Grade
We reviewed for the chapter 2 test tomorrow. The study guide will also be due at this time. Students should also bring in their Code of Hammurabi project; we will begin presenting after the test.

7th Grade
The seventh graders reviewed for their chapter 3 test tomorrow. Study guides are also due at this time.

8th Grade
The eighth graders did an activity to see the difference between independent workers and an assembly line.

Religion
Students took their chapter 3 test today.

Spanish (Room 18)
We played Spanish Bingo to review our numbers.

October 14, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders took their chapter 2 test today. Study guides were also collected. We began presenting our Code of Hammurabi projects today—they look great!

7th Grade
The seventh graders took their chapter 3 test today. Study guides were also collected.

8th Grade
We read chapter 18.2 today as a class.

Religion
We did our opening activity for chapter 4 and talked about the characteristics of friendship.

October 17, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders presented their Code of Hammurabi project today. They were great!

7th Grade
The seventh graders watched a video that talked about colonial life.

8th Grade
We watched a short video about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory and then students saw another short video about present day sweatshops associated with Nike. Students were given a worksheet to complete for homework.

Religion
We learned about the story of Joseph.

Spanish (Room 20)
The students received their tests back and we went over them together. Students also wrote down school supply vocabulary words.

October 18, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders finished presenting their Code of Hammurabi projects and then they received their chapter 2 tests back.

7th Grade
The seventh graders received their chapter 3 tests back and we talked about our unit 1 project. Students will create a “farcebook” of someone from unit 1. These are due on November 2nd.

8th Grade
We checked our homework from yesterday. The eighth graders then read 18.3 on their own and completed the check your progress questions. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

October 19, 2011

6th Grade
Students received their chapter 3 study guide. We read 3.1 together and students were assigned workbook page 18 and lesson questions 2-5. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
Students received their chapter 4 study guide. We read 4.1 together and students were assigned CYP 1-2. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

8th Grade
The eighth graders watched a video about rapid urbanization and the problems associated with it.

Religion
Students worked on a 2 sided worksheet about the story of Joseph. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

Spanish (Room 26)
Students took their Spanish quiz over what they have learned so far.

October 20, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected our homework from yesterday. The students also created pictures which portrayed how the Nile River was both the giver and taker of life. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
The seventh graders read 4.2 on their own answering the checkpoint questions along with the CYP 1-2. The Farcebook project due date has been changed to November 7th because I will be at White Pines on the original due date.

8th Grade
We read 18.4 together as a class. Worksheet 56 is for homework and due tomorrow.

Religion
I collected the homework from yesterday. We read the story about Saint Joseph and answered questions about the story.

Spanish (Room 20)
We wrote down vocabulary words for school supplies and did an activity with them. Students received a worksheet for homework.

October 21, 2011

6th Grade
We listened to 3.2 on tape. Students were then assigned lesson questions 2-5 and workbook page 20. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
The seventh graders drew pictures portraying life in colonial times. The drawings are due on Tuesday.

8th Grade
We talked about Ellis Island in class today. Students were also assigned to write a paper about how their families established themselves in the United States. This paper is due on November 14. Their chapter 18 test will be on Wednesday. Study guides will also be due at this time.

Religion
We talked about ways in which we are distracted from prayer and also wrote a prayer to be used at the beginning of class. If this was not finished in school, it is for homework.

October 24, 2011

First Quarter ends Friday, October 28

6th Grade
We corrected our homework from Friday. Next, I read books about the mummification process and pyramid building to them. The test will be on Friday. Study guides are due at this time as well.

7th Grade
The seventh graders read chapter 4.3 on their own. Students were given a worksheet about the slave trade to complete as well. The drawings about colonial life are due tomorrow. The chapter 4 test will be on Friday. Study guides are due at this time as well.

8th Grade
The eighth graders read chapter 18.5 and were assigned the checkpoint and CYP questions. If they were not finished in class, they are for homework. Their chapter 18 test is on Wednesday. Study guides are also due at this time.

Religion
We did the chapter review in class today. The chapter 4 test will be on Wednesday.

Spanish (Room 20)
Students played a review game about school supplies. They also received a worksheet about parts of the body. This is for homework if it was not finished in class.

October 25, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders watched a movie on the Great Pyramid. The chapter 3 test will be on Friday. Study guides will also be due at this time.

7th Grade
The seventh graders handed in their colonial art. They also worked on a reading guide for chapter 4.4 which is due tomorrow if it was not finished in class. The chapter 4 test will be on Friday. Study guides are also due at this time.

8th Grade
The eighth graders played a review game to prepare for their chapter 18 test tomorrow. Study guides are also due at this time.

Religion
Students worked on their faith journal and we reviewed for their chapter 4 test tomorrow.

October 26, 2011

6th Grade
We read 3.3 together. Students completed the lesson review 2-5 and workbook page 21. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework. The chapter 3 test will be on Friday. Study guides will also be due at this time.

7th Grade
We corrected the 4.4 reading guide as a class. Students then worked on page 128 questions 6-10. If this was not completed in class, it is for homework. The chapter 4 test will be on Friday. Study guides will also be due at this time.

8th Grade
The eighth graders took the chapter 18 test today. Study guides were also collected. The immigration paper is due on November 15th. Students will tell me what they are doing for their unit project on Friday.

Religion
Students took the chapter 4 test today.

Spanish (Room 26)
Students received their tests back and we went over them as a class. Students also learned some phrases in Spanish and were given a worksheet to complete for homework.

October 27, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected the 3.3 homework as a class. We then reviewed for the test tomorrow over chapter 3. Study guides are also due tomorrow.

7th Grade
We corrected the chapter 4 review and then reviewed for the test. The test will be tomorrow and study guides will also be due at this time.

8th Grade
The eighth graders received their chapter 18 tests back and we went over them as a class. We then looked over the citizenship test to see how many we could get right!

Religion
Students worked on the Unit 1 review in their books.

Spanish (Room 18)
Students learned some new phrases in Spanish.

October 28, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders took their chapter 3 test today. Study guides were also collected. Workbook page 19 was assigned. If it was not finished in class, it is for homework.

7th Grade
The seventh graders took their chapter 4 test today. Study guides were also collected. A worksheet was also assigned. If it was not finished in class, it is for homework.

8th Grade
The eighth graders watched a video about chapter 19. Students also told me what they are planning to do for their Unit 1 Project. The immigration paper is due on November 15 and the Unit 1 project is due on November 21.

Religion
Students worked on their Unit 1 packet. If it was not finished in class, it is for homework. The Unit 1 review in their book should also be completed by Monday.

October 31, 2011

6th Grade
We went over the chapter 3 tests together. The sixth graders received their next assignment for Country of the Day. Students also read chapter 4.1 on their own and completed lesson questions 2-5 and workbook page 24. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
The seventh graders went over their chapter 4 tests. We began reading 5.1. Students were assigned to complete reading chapter 5 and to do CYP questions 1 and 2.

8th Grade
The eighth graders viewed a powerpoint presentation on chapter 19 sections 1 and 2. Students were assigned the CYP questions from both sections.

Spanish (Room 20)
We reviewed parts of the body and school supplies by playing vocabulary bingo. There will be a test on these vocabulary words next week.
