November 1, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders corrected their homework from yesterday and were given a worksheet about China’s geography. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
Today we corrected our homework from yesterday. We also read chapter 5.2 together as a class.

7th Grade Wednesday-Friday
For the rest of the week, I will be at White Pines with the 6th and 8th grade. The seventh graders will work on their ABC books assigned to them today. On Friday, students will be assigned to read chapter 5.3 and complete a worksheet. The Farcebook project is due on Monday, November 7th.

8th Grade
The eighth graders read chapter 19.3 today as a class. I also checked in yesterday’s homework.

Religion
We continued talking about the upcoming changes in the Mass.

November 7, 2011

Room 22 will go to the book fair to preview and buy books tomorrow.

6th Grade
The sixth graders read chapter 4.2. Lesson review questions 2-5 were assigned along with workbook page 26. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
We reviewed what we have read so far in chapter 5 and started presenting our Farcebook projects.

8th Grade
The eighth graders began watching clips of Iron Jawed Angels to enhance our study of how women got the right to vote.

Religion
We continued reading about upcoming changes in the Mass.

Spanish (Room 26)

We went over phrases were have already learned. Then, students learned numbers 21-100 and wrote them in their notebooks. They received a two-sided worksheet to finish for homework.

November 8, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected our homework from yesterday and read about the building of the Great Wall of China.

7th Grade
We read chapter 5.4. CYP questions 1-2 were assigned for homework. The American Revolution ABC books are also due tomorrow.

8th Grade
The eighth graders continued watching clips from Iron Jawed Angels.

Religion
We continued talking about upcoming changes in the Mass.

Spanish (Room 18)
We reviewed vocabulary words for school supplies and parts of the body. The test will be next week.

November 9, 2011

6th Grade
We read chapter 4.3 together as a class. Students were assigned lesson questions 2-5 and workbook page 27. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework. The chapter 4 test will be next Wednesday. Study guides will also be due at this time.

7th Grade
We corrected our CYP from yesterday. Students handed in their ABC books and we reviewed the chapter. The chapter 5 test will be next Tuesday. Study guides will also be due at this time.

8th Grade
We completed watching Iron Jawed Angels. Students were given four questions to answer regarding their reactions to the movie. The answers, typed, are due on Monday. Students also read chapter 19.4. The immigration paper is due on Tuesday and the chapter 19 test will be on Wednesday.

Religion
Students did the chapter 5 opening activities.

Spanish (Room 20)
We reviewed school supplies and parts of the body in Spanish. There will be a quiz next Wednesday over these vocabulary words.

6th Grade
The sixth graders played a review game in preparation for the chapter 4 test tomorrow. Study guides will be collected as well.

7th Grade
The seventh graders took their test over chapter 5. Study guides were collected. Students were also given a worksheet to complete after the test.

8th Grade
The eighth graders handed in their homework from yesterday and their immigration papers. We played a review game in preparation for our chapter 19 test tomorrow. Study guides will also be due at this time.

Religion
We read from both the Bible and our books about everlasting life.

7th Grade
The students continued presenting their farcebook projects.

8th Grade
The eighth graders took the chapter 19 test today. Study guides were also collected. The Unit 6 project is due on Monday.

Religion
We depicted the ten plagues.

Spanish (Room 20)
Students took their quiz over school supplies and parts of the body vocabulary. They also wrote down the vocabulary for family members.

November 17, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders read excerpts from the Tao te Ching. Students picked their five favorite and wrote what they think the quote means. Each description must be 5 sentences long. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
We finished presenting our Farcebook projects. They were wonderful!

8th Grade
The eighth graders began presenting their immigration papers. They are very interesting!

Religion
We continued working on our plague drawings. Students also received a worksheet to complete. Both the drawing and the worksheet is due tomorrow.


November 18, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders read about the Shanghi New Year and answered questions about the story.

7th Grade
The seventh graders read chapter 6.1 on their own and were assigned CYP and a worksheet. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework. We also went over our chapter 5 test.

8th Grade
The eighth graders finished presenting their immigration papers. All were very interesting! The Unit 6 Projects are due on Monday.

Religion
Students worked on the chapter review. The chapter 5 test will be on Tuesday. Students also received a print out summarizing all the upcoming changes in the Mass.

November 21, 2011

6th Grade
Students read chapter 5.1 and completed questions 2-5 in the chapter review. Students were also assigned workbook page 30. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
I checked in the work from 6.1 and we went over the check your progress questions. We began reading and discussing 6.2. Students were assigned to finish reading 6.2 and to complete the CYP questions for homework. I also passed out a permission slip for students to view The Patriot as part of our culminating event for the Revolutionary War Integrated Unit. Permission slips are due back next Tuesday.

8th Grade
We presented our Unit 6 Projects. They were great!

Religion
We wrote in our Faith Journals and reviewed for the chapter 5 test tomorrow.

Spanish (Room 26)
We corrected our work from last week and began learning how to tell time in Spanish. Students were assigned a double sided worksheet for homework.

November 22, 2011

6th Grade
We went over the homework from last night. Students pretended they were Ashoka and created their own columns declaring non-violence. If it was not finished in class, it is for homework. Students also received their chapter 5 study guides.

7th Grade
We corrected our homework from yesterday. Students then worked in groups to put events of the Revolutionary War in correct order.

Religion
Students took their chapter 5 test today.

Happy Thanksgiving!

The seventh grade test is scheduled for next Thursday. Religion worksheets are due on Monday if they were not finished in class.

November 28, 2011

6th Grade
We read chapter 5.2 together. Students were assigned workbook page 31 and lesson questions 2-5. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
I passed out recipes from the Revolutionary War time period. Your child has been placed in a group and together will bring in a baked good to share with the class on Friday. Students can look up different recipes—but they must be from the Revolutionary War time period. The permission slips to watch the video are due tomorrow. Today we read chapter 6.3 together as a class. CYP questions 1 and 2 were assigned for homework. The chapter 6 test will be on Thursday.

8th Grade
We finished presenting our unit projects today. Students were assigned to read 20.1 and CYP 1 and 2. Students also received a worksheet to complete. Study guides were passed out.

Religion
We did activities about the Seder Meal. Students also received their chapter 5 tests back.

Spanish
We corrected our homework from last week and reviewed time. There will be a quiz on December 12th about what we have learned so far.

November 29, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected our homework and reviewed what we have learned so far. Students were given a worksheet about 5.2 to complete. If it was not finished in class, it is for homework.

7th Grade
We corrected our homework from last night. We also reviewed what we have learned so far and read 6.4 together. At the end of class we ranked the reasons why we felt the colonists won the American Revolution. Our chapter 6 test will be on Thursday. Study guides are also due at this time.

8th Grade
We corrected our homework from last night. We then had a class discussion about the annexation of Hawaii.

Religion
We learned about the Liturgical Year. Students answered questions that went along with the reading.

Spanish (Room 18)
We made family trees using our Spanish vocabulary words for our family. There will be a quiz on family vocabulary next time we meet. The family tree is also due then.

November 30, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders listened to 5.3 on tape. Students were assigned workbook page 32 and lesson questions 2-5. If it was not finished in class, it is for homework.

7th Grade
We played a review game in class. The chapter 6 test is tomorrow. Study guides will be collected as well. We will watch The Patriot on Friday. Please bring in your baked goods then.

8th Grade
We read chapter 20.2 together as a class and discussed the Spanish-American War.

Religion
We created our own recipes for a spiritual life. If it was not finished in class it is for homework.

Spanish (Room 20)
We made family trees using our Spanish vocabulary words. If they were not finished in class, they are due next time we meet. Next week we will have a quiz on family vocabulary.
