December 1, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected our homework from yesterday about Hinduism. Students then read an article about festivals and holidays in this religion.

7th Grade
We took our chapter 6 test today. Study guides were also collected.

8th Grade
We reviewed what we have learned so far in chapter 20. Students were assigned CYP from 20.3 along with checkpoints and CYP from 20.4. The Roosevelt Corollary worksheet was also assigned. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

Religion
We read the story, both from the Bible and in our books, about Jesus feeding the crowd with loaves and fishes. Students answered questions about the story and were given a worksheet to complete. If the worksheet was not finished in class, it is for homework.

December 2, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders read 5.4 on their own. They were assigned lesson questions 2-5 and workbook page 34. A worksheet was also assigned. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework. The chapter 5 test is on Wednesday. Study guides are also due then.

7th Grade
We had our culminating event of the Revolutionary War. We watched The Patriot and enjoyed the many baked goods.

8th Grade
Dr. Stritch came in to talk to students about the Spanish American War. He also showed the students a few artifacts from the war. The chapter 20 test is on Wednesday. Study guides are due then as well.

Religion
Students wrote stories pretending as though they were at the site when Jesus fed the people with loaves of bread and fishes.

December 5, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected our homework from Friday. Students also read about the festivals and holidays associated with Buddhism. The chapter 5 test will be on Wednesday. Study guides will also be due at this time.

7th Grade
The seventh graders received their chapter 6 tests back. Students also got their Constitution booklets and Constitution study guides. Units 1-4 and questions were assigned for homework due tomorrow.

8th Grade
The eighth graders viewed a powerpoint about the Panama Canal and completed a worksheet. The chapter 20 test will be on Wednesday. Study guides will be due then as well.

Religion
We read about Pope Benedict XVI. We also worked on Faith in Action. The test will be on Thursday.

Spanish (Room 26)
We reviewed for the quiz next Monday.

There will be an NJHS bake sale on Friday.

6th Grade
The sixth graders reviewed for their test tomorrow. Study guides will also be due at this time.

7th Grade
We went over our homework from yesterday.

8th Grade
The eighth graders reviewed for their test tomorrow. Study guides will also be due at this time.

Religion
Students worked on the chapter 6 review. The test will be on Thursday.

Spanish (Room 18)
Students took the test on family vocabulary. We learned how to say the days of the week in Spanish.

The sixth graders took their chapter 5 test today. Study guides were also collected.

7th Grade
Seventh grade was assigned two crossword puzzles about the Constitution and a worksheet about the Great Compromise. If the work was not finished in class, it is for homework.

8th Grade
The eighth graders took their chapter 20 tests today. Study guides were also collected.

Religion
Students read about Advent and drew Advent wreaths.

Spanish (Room 20)
Students took their quiz on family vocabulary. They also learned about the Days of the Week. There will be a quiz on this in two weeks.

6th Grade

6th Grade
The sixth graders began their study of chapter 10 by reading 10.1. Lesson questions 2-5 were assigned along with workbook page 68. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
We corrected the homework from last night and read about the Bill of Rights. Page 9 was for homework along with a worksheet on the Amendments. There will be a quiz on pages 3-8 on Tuesday.

8th Grade
Eighth grade began watching a video about the events of Pearl Harbor.

Religion
Students took their chapter 6 test today.

December 9, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders saw a short clip about the legend of Romulus and Remus. They then made a cartoon strip about the story. We also checked homework from last night. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
We checked our homework from last night and had some class discussions about freedom of speech. Students received a worksheet for homework. There will be a quiz on Tuesday over the first 4 units.

8th Grade
Dr. Stritch came in and talked to the students about Pearl Harbor.

Religion
We began chapter 7. Students also wrote down the Ten Commandments. Students will have to write these down, in correct order, for the next test. Students received a worksheet about creating their own rules. This is due on Monday.

December 12, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders read 10.2 and were assigned lesson questions 2-5. Workbook 70 was also assigned. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

7th Grade
We talked about Amendments 4-6. There will be a quiz tomorrow on pages 3-8.

8th Grade
We finished watching the video about Pearl Harbor.

Religion
We read the story about Moses receiving the Ten Commandments. Students will have to memorize the Ten Commandments for the next test.

Spanish (Room 26)
Students took their Spanish quiz.

December 13, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected the homework from last night. We then viewed a PowerPoint about the assassination of Julius Caesar. They then filled out a murder report. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework. Students also received the chapter 10 study guide. The test is next Monday.

7th Grade
The seventh graders took their first quiz on the Constitution. Students then heard a song about the preamble. For the next quiz, they will have to write the preamble. The next quiz will be next Tuesday.

8th Grade
We read 20.1. CYP and SFQ were assigned. Students also received the chapter 20 study guide. The test is next Tuesday.

Religion
Students completed a worksheet about Moses and the Ten Commandments. They also depicted one of the Ten Commandments. Whatever was not finished in class is for homework.

Spanish (Room 18)
We reviewed the days of the week and months of the year. There will be a test over this next week.

December 14, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders read 10.3 and were assigned lesson questions 2-5 and workbook page 71. The chapter 10 test will be on Monday. Study guides will be due then as well.

7th Grade
The seventh graders listened to the Preamble song and received their tests back.

8th Grade
The eighth graders watched a video about World War I. The chapter 20 test will be on Tuesday.

Religion
Students read the story about God’s two Greatest Commandments. The chapter test will be on Tuesday. Students will also have to write the Ten Commandments in the correct order for the test.

Spanish (Room 20)
Students learned the months of the year in Spanish. We also played a review game. There will be a quiz next week over the days of the week and months of the year.

December 15, 2011

6th Grade
We corrected the homework from yesterday. We also read 10.5 together. Students were assigned lesson questions 2-5 and workbook page 73. The chapter 10 test will be on Monday. Study guides will also be due at this time.

7th Grade
The seventh graders did a writing activity about what Amendment they feel is the most important.

8th Grade
We corrected our homework from 21.1. Together we read 20.2. CYP questions were assigned for homework. The chapter 21 test (sections 1 and 2) will be on Tuesday.

Religion
Students made artwork reflecting the two greatest Commandments. The chapter 7 religion test will be on Tuesday. Students will have to write out the Ten Commandments in order.

December 16, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders reviewed for their test on Monday. Study guides are also due at this time.

7th Grade
We read pages 10-12 in our Constitution books. Students were assigned the questions on those pages. There will be a quiz on Tuesday. Students will have to write out the Preamble.

8th Grade
The eighth graders viewed pictures of posters used as propaganda during WWI. They also received a two-sided worksheet due on Monday. There will be a test on Tuesday. Study guides are also due at this time.

Religion
We did the chapter 7 review and students continued working on their artwork displaying God’s Greatest Commandment. If it was not finished in class, it is for homework.

December 19, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders took their chapter 10 tests today. Study guides were also collected.

7th Grade
We corrected pages 10-12. Next, we read pages 13-14. There will be a quiz tomorrow over pages 9-14. Students will also have to write out the preamble.

8th Grade
The eighth graders reviewed for their chapter 21 test tomorrow. Study guides are due tomorrow as well.

Religion
We prayed our prayers of Thanksgiving today. There will be a test tomorrow over chapter 7. Students will also have to write out the Ten Commandments.

Spanish
Students received their quizzes back and we sang Christmas Carols in Spanish.

December 20, 2011

6th Grade
The sixth graders learned about gladiators and pretended they were a gladiator being interviewed.

7th Grade
The seventh graders took a quiz over the preamble and pages 9-14. Students received a crossword puzzle to complete by tomorrow.

8th Grade
The eighth graders took a test over the first part of Chapter 21. Study guides were also collected.

Religion
Students took a test over chapter 7 and the Ten Commandments.
