Week of December 12-16, 2011

Christmas excitement is in the air and in our classroom. We are learning the lyrics to our Christmas Concert song, You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch, and the kids are having a lot of fun with it. Please continue to practice with them at home -- it is a challenging song!

The phonics focus for the week of Dec 12 is short vowels and final consonant blends. Spelling words for Friday's test: and, best, fast, just, hand, must, out, came, sent, next
High Frequency words: came, know, out, she, there

We are participating in the Student Government door decorating contest this week. Our theme is Santa's Workshop. The children will be making the decorations, but if you have extra craft supplies at home you'd like to donate to this effort, send them in! We could use tinsel, glitter or glitter glue, Christmas ribbon and bows, etc. Please don't go out and buy anything, but if you have some things laying around, we will use them. Our door will be judged on its theme, creativity, visual effect, imagination, and student involvement.

Reminders:
If you haven't already, please send in a blank, stamped envelope. We are writing letters to Santa Claus!
