Week of March 8-12
*The Lenten store made $24.75 for the first week. Please send in change. That would work better in a labeled envelope with name and "store" for this week or a coin purse or wallet would be super! The store will be on THURSDAY, MARCH 11th NOT THE 12th. Hopefully this time I can get some photos of the shoppers!
* Most remember to put their names on Math homework sheets. Those that don't, I have no way of knowing whose is whose so they are not corrected and returned.
Reading: We are starting a new reader. Our next play will be before Easter break on Holy Thursday. Hope you can make it!
Mon. Reader: p.10-17
Tues. The Neat Green Cast
Wed. p.18-41
Th. SRA
Spelling: test Fri. long E with a silent A example neat and again -ed
Math: Monday - Game Zone and it doesn't need to come back. Timed addition starts again a week from Wed. We are taking more time with money.......
Religion: Tues. p.302-303
Grammar: Oops didn't write it down so let's see how they do.
Looks like another dreary week. Don't know about you but I am ready for sunny skies and Spring!

IMPORTANT PHONICS RULE
We spent part of the morning talking about when to double the final consonant before adding -ed. I thought I'd share it with you.
If a word is a 3 letter word you double the consonant and then add -ed.
If a word has 2 consonants at the end of the word you don't double the consonants before adding -ed.
There is a white sheet of paper in the folder with these kinds of words on it.

What a Success the Lenten Store was!
* Look below after the information and homework for some great shots of the class shopping.
* Grade One Mass is 3-25. You probably don't know this, but after mass the rosary group waits for us to leave so they can say the rosary. Thats why I try and get the class our quietly and quickly.
* The glossary will be introduced on Thursday. It is in the back of the reader. What we will focus on are headings, entry words, definitions and pictures.
Homework:
Reading Tues. reader p.46-53
Wed. reader p. 54-81
Th. Who Rang the Bell
Spelling: words are in folder on Tues.
Test on Fri. with the focus on long a, ai and ay spelling.
Math: timed addition Wed.
Rel. p. 304-305
Grammar: Adj.'s that are either a color or shape

Week of March 22nd
* If you have any empty egg cartons we could use them.
* Last week the class was introduced to the glossary in the back of the reader. It might help to use it when your child is having a hard time figuring out a word.
* Our first grade mass is this Thursday at 8:30.
*Believe it or not we are out of cups again.

Friday will be the last Lenten Store. Please send in a dollar early if you wish in a labeled envelope. Missions banks are also due Friday if you choose to use them The second store made $22. 05! Thank you!

What a wonderful cause!

Wed. reread story if necessary
*Spelling test Thurs. focus is the long i sound spelled igh,ie or i.
*Math: no timed test
*Over the weekend I will put the total collected for the missions through the Lenten Store and the mission banks. Thanks for all you do for our class! They really enjoyed shopping. Some items were very popular and other items not so. I think the biggest lesson learned for some was that you can't always get what you want!
* A special thanks to Mrs. Vogrich and Mrs. Lyons who helped with the store. It would not have worked without their help!!
