How Fun!

Tuesdat I read the story, My Teacher Sleeps in School. The class wanted to know if I slept in school! I left it to their imagination. At 11:40 yesterday, someone spotted a toothbrush on the chalk ledge. Well, the class looked all around the room for other clues....I loved seeing the excitement when they found the microwave, the shower, slippers etc! Today they found my towel, teddy bear. pillow and PJ's............... It's going to be a great year!

**FSP starts on Sept. 6th. so continue sending daily snacks and lunches.

**First grade does not use assignment notebooks so you do not need to send in $3. 00. Someone sent a baggie with 3.00 but there wasn't a name. This remined me to tell you to PLEASE LABEL ANY ENVELOPE THAT COMES TO SCHOOL WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME ON IT. Thanks!!

**Juice boxes are for lunch not snack time. Water is fine at snack time. We have about 5 minutes to eat a small snack.

**Birthdays are celebrated with a special song. Anything is fine for a class treat EXCEPT CUPCAKES. They are too messy.

**Today I tested to see where your child is as far as reading. A copy will be sent home next week.

**WE STILL NEED 1 SHOEBOX FOR THE READING PROJECT.

Week of Sept. 5th.

* Lots of papers are in your child's folder today the 6th! Always review with your child what needs to be gone over. THANKS!!
*Let's go over some of them.
* Each day your child will circle how his/her behavior was. IT IS OK AND PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS TO YOUR CHILD THAT IF A 2-7 IS CIRCLED IT IS A WARNING AND YOUR CHILD SHOULD NOT GET UPSET!!
* The Math review from last week, (START SMART BACK TO SCHOOL REFRESHER) was a Kdg. review. If something was a " learning moment", it should have a dot. If a letter or # was written incorrecetly, then it should be circled. It's up to you to have your child correct them.
* Remind your child to ask for help anytime! Asking for help is a great thing!!
* We have started on Ch. 1 in Math. We will take Ch. 1 test together to get your child used to test taking. It will be a practice test.

HOMEWORK
* Reading: Until we get into a routine and finish the first reading workbook, review what is in the folder. Family Times always has a game to play inside the booklet.
Look Pat and Nan focused on the ending sound c/k and the beginning sound nuh. Can your child read this story?

*Please email me with any questions or comments. ML

It's Monday!

*Thanks to those that remembered to send lunch towels and snacks. The cups never went home Friday but will this Friday.
* Keep checking the take home folder. There are a lot of papers in there today!
* We started the Handwriting book today, wrote in our journals and are half way through the Kdg. review in reading. I will look them over before I send them home and then they are yours to keep! Anything circled your child should go over with you!!
* In Math today we are starting a flashcard game. You can start with adding zero to any number up to 12 and then proceed to adding one to a number up to 12. Ex. 8 plus 1 = 9. If your child knows these really well, move on to twos. An addition assessment will be given this week to show me where your child should practice the flashcards.
* We are also starting Social Studies and Science.
Enjoy the nice weather while it lasts!
