      We spent part of the morning talking about when to double the final consonant before adding -ed. I thought I&apos;d share it with you.  

If a word is a 3 letter word you double the consonant and then add -ed.
If a word has 2 consonants at the end of the word you don&apos;t double the consonants before adding -ed.

There is a white sheet of paper in the folder with these kinds of words on it.

      *The Lenten store made $24.75 for the first week. Please send in change. That would work better in a labeled envelope with name and &quot;store&quot; for this week or a coin purse or wallet would be super! The store will be on THURSDAY, MARCH 11th NOT THE 12th. Hopefully this time I can get some photos of the shoppers!

* Most remember to put their names on Math homework sheets. Those that don&apos;t, I have no way of knowing whose is whose so they are not corrected and returned.

Reading: We are starting a new reader. Our next play will be before Easter break on Holy Thursday. Hope you can make it!

*Believe it or not, I am looking forward to 5 days in school. We can get back on our routine.

*If you have a joke or riddle book please send it in.

*With the new month comes a new activity. It is an independent one. It&apos;s called The Problem of the Week. Each Mon. will be a problem to be solved. On Th. I will correct them and you can see how your child does. Only a few will try because this is my most challenging work for a first grader to do and thats ok.

* If you have any Dr. Seuss books and remember send them in. Tues. is Dr. Seuss&apos; birthday!

      Lent starts Wed.! Since we started working with money recently,there will be an exciting new activity in Room 14!! It&apos;s called the Lenten Store! During Center time on Friday, Feb.26th., Friday, March12th., and Friday, March 26th. the classroom will be transformed into a children&apos;s store where your child can buy items ranging from .10 to .50. The proceeds will go to the Boys and Girls Home of Chicago.

There&apos;s a St. Linus sweartshirt that has blue writing in the class.........your child&apos;s??
