Hi Families,
Hope you all enjoyed the 3 day weekend. They are always so appreciated! We have had some busy weeks lately, it should be slowing down soon.
Today: Tuesday: Kian is our star-of-the-week. Have fun Baby Duck! We have one student left to be our star-of-the-week. Once we have completed the star of the week activity, I will be sending Baby Duck home with each child for one last visit~just an overnight this time around!
We began Letter book Uu. Now that we have covered all the vowels, I will soon be assigning vowel worksheets as part of our morning work.
A new word list and a copy of our next story came home. I am pleased so far with how well the students have been reading our stories. Beginning in March, I will start my "Take home book" reading program. A letter explaining this reading program will come home in the next two weeks. It is always one of my goals each year to have the students read more than what is required in their letter books.
Our Uu picture paper was assigned~please have your child only find short u pictures~umbrella, umpire, uncle are just some examples.
Wednesday: Happy Birthday Brooke!
Ash Wednesday mass @ 10:00. The Kindergarten and Preschool are in charge of this mass. A few of the students have been chosen to read petitions and bring up the gifts. The entire class will be singing a song after Communion. Hope to see you there.
A Lenten Promise calendar will be coming home in your child's folder. Since Kindergarten children do not quite understand the concept of "giving up" something during Lent, I instead have them do something to show their love for Jesus. Each school day during Lent, your child is assigned a simple task to do. I will be discussing their daily promise each day during our Circle time. I encourage you to have your child do the daily "promise" as much as possible.
Class poem paper assigned for homework.
Thursday: Happy Birthday Andrew!
Uu printing paper assigned for homework.
Friday: All Great America 6 hour Reading sheets are to be brought in. If your child has completed 6 hours of reading (or being read to), then he/she will receive a ticket to Great America in May. Its a great deal!
I've noticed lately that there are students who do not have a snack towel for snack and lunch time. I would appreciate it if you would make sure your child has one every day.
We are in need of glue sticks! The students have mentioned to me several times that the ones from Target do not work very well.
Thank you to Mrs. Lundy for planning the Valentine party last week, and all the Moms who helped out. I'm very appreciative for all the help with the parties this year~they have been a great success. The Kindergarten picnic is our next and final bash for the year! Its going by fast~graduation will be here before you know it!
No school next Monday~I have an Archdiocese conference to go to.
Have a good week, stay warm!
