September 6-9, 2011

Hi Parents,
We made it through our first week of school! The temperature in the room today was quite comfortable compared to last week's. We were able to go outside and play in the courtyard. How nice!
Our week:

Tuesday: In Reading we began working on the letter C. We listened to a story and sang a song all about words that begin with C. I sent home the "C" picture homework paper. A letter was sent home along with it explaining what to do on it.
We also began our first chapter in Math. We discussed "position" words such as on, above, top, middle, and bottom. This concept is fairly simple for the students to understand, so I move through this chapter quickly.

Wednesday: Computers
"C" picture papers due back so we can discuss them.

Thursday: Library
"Cc" printing paper assigned for homework.
Mary's Birthday! As mentioned in today's newsletter, please have your child bring in a real, or artificial flower. We will be having a small celebration to honor Jesus' mother's birthday.

Friday: Gym
All "Introduce myself to the class" papers due back. I have already received several and have begun discussing them with the class. They are quite informative and fun to read.
Cc printing papers due back.

* I'm still waiting for several families to return the Kindergarten Questionnaire that was handed out at my opening meeting. Please return yours if you have not done so.

*A few students do not have a snack and/or rest towel. I would greatly appreciate it if you would make sure your child has both every day.

Rest towels will be coming home this week to be cleaned. I send rest towels home every 2 weeks and snack towels come home weekly if necessary.

Thank you to Mrs. Lundy for this week's snack.

Today I began my "Artist-of-the-week" activity. Each week I choose a student to draw a picture for our newsletter and a picture for our Artist of the week board. Sofia was chosen as our artist this week. Congratulations Sofia!!

We are slowly getting into a routine, and I am pleased with our progress. Remember to do a daily check of your child's folder and send it back in their back pack.

Have a good rest of the week.

Mrs. Revis
