Unit 1 Test on Thursday, 09/10/09
Reading - Finish Vocabulary Words (7 words) for the story, "A Visit with
Grandpa"

We have two new things happening in our room: There is a homework chart hanging in our room, and I keep track of who is doing their homework, and who isn't. If they do their homework, they will get a sticker after their name. If not, there wil be an unhappy face next to it. Every time a student has five stickers after their name, there will be a reward. The second thing is that if they follow the rules and don't get their name on the board, they will receive a ticket to put into a jar. At the end of the week, I will pull out a ticket to see who our lucky winner is. One last thing, starting tomorrow, Friday Folders will be sent home. When you receive the purple folder, please look at the papers, sign the white sheet and the papers, and send it back on Monday. Next week the folders will come back on Tuesday, Sept. 8th, 2009.

Hi,

I hope everyone had a long and relaxing weekend. It's time to get back to work. Today, the students were given a letter about Engrade today explaining how to access your child's grades. Along with the letter, there were two strips of paper telling you how to access Mrs. Minarik's grades, and how to access my grades. Next, Quite a few students have not returned the purple Family Information Form. Please fill it out and return it to school by Friday, Sept. 11th, 2009. Thank You. Last , Homework/Test Information. The students were told today that
next Monday, Sept. 14th, 2009, there will be a Reading Test on the story, "A Visit with Grandpa." Also, the skillls test will be on Setting. Both tests will be open book. Once in a while, tests will be open book. Vocabulary (orange book) Unit 1 Spelling Test will be on Wednesday, Sept. 9th, 2009, and the Unit One Test will be on Thursday, 09/10/09. Reading - Workbook page 3. They need to do numbers 1-4 only. Test on "A Visit with Grandpa"
and the Skills Test. The skill is Setting. Monday, Sept. 14th, 2009
English - Worksheet #32, numbers 1-10 only. We did number 6 in class. This will be for a
grade.
Vocabulary (orange book) Unit 1 Test on Thursday, 09/10/09.
Science - Worksheet #4. (from lesson 2). This will also be for a grade.

It's hard to believe that we completed 3 weeks of school! Time moves on.

Reading - Test on "A Visit with Grandpa" and the Skills Test (setting) on

Also, tthere will be an all school Mass on Monday, 09/14/09.
One last thing - In the back of the Handbook, there is a section for the parents to fill out.
At this time, I only have 2 or 3 that have been returned. Please send in this sheet as soon

This is just to let you know that there will be a Reading Test on Tuesday, 09/29/09. The story is "Train to Somewhere" and the Skill is "Sequence." The Unit 3 index cards (Vocab., orange book, pages 24 and 25) will be due on Tuesday, 09/29/09.
One other thing, several students are not completing their homework. I am asking that you check you child's assignment tablet to make sure the assignments are written down, and if they completed their work. Here are some of the answers I'm getting when I ask why the homework wasn't completed: "I forgot." "I did it; but, it's at home on the kitchen table."
