Mrs. Schifferdecker's Classroom Connection

Good Evening,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter vacation. It's hard to believe that we are in the
final quarter of fourth grade! We'll be working hard - expect a little more homework, and
more quizzes and tests. In Reading, we are just beginning a new story called, "The Storm."
The Reading Tests will be divided over two days. I'll let you know the exact dates for the test on "The Storm and Skills by Friday, 04/16/2010. In English, we just started Chapter 6 - Adjectives; in Vocabulary, we started on Unit 15. There aren't too many units left. There is Unit 16, a review test of units 13 - 16, and finally, there is a cumulative test. There will be more information available as we get closer to the end of the book. In Science, we' re working on Chapter C4 - The Solar System.
This is how we're starting the fourth quarter. The fourth graders were told today that there would be more work, and that all work will be done in Cursive. I will ask your cooperation
in helping me to remind the students that all assignments need to be in writng, not printing.
Thank you for your help. Also, as far as the assignment tablets are concerned, I will not
be walking around making sure that the students have written everything correctly in
the tablets. I will continue to put assignments, including quizzes and tests on my board at school, and on this blog. The students need to be responsible for their assignments.

Monday, 04/12/2010 HW: Reading - Vocabulary Words on page 326; some students have
finished them. English - page 338, numbers 1-12. Vocabulary (orange book) Unit 15 words were introduced.

Wednesday, 04/14/2010 The students will be allowed to choose the book report form for the last and final book report. The forms will be given out this Friday, 04/16/2010.

Friday, 04/16/2010 Ladies Guild Hot Lunch; Vocabulary - Unit 15 Index Cards are due;
The Handwriting Sheet is due, and finally, Report Cards will be sent home.

Hello There,

The Fourth Graders had a wonderful opportunity this past Friday. Mr. Aubin gave us an excellent presentation on the Solar System. The children and the teachers really enjoyed it.

In the Friday Folders, you will find a page of additional websites that Mr. Aubin gave us so you and your child may check them out. If you'd like, let me know which ones you visited. Also, in the folders was a survey asking you what you thought of going to the Field Museum and the cost. Please return the surveys by Friday, 04/30/2010.

Friday, 04/30/2010 Book Report # 6 is due today. Vocabulary (orange book) Unit 16 Spelling Test, and the last thing is Reading - Open Book test on "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi." The skills section of the test will be a take home test. Progress Reports will be sent home today.
