Hello Pre-School Parents and Children ~
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Ms. Susan Morg, and I am excited to be the new Pre-School teacher for the 2010-2011 school year. I am currently the Fifth Grade teacher at St. Linus, and would like to tell you a little about myself. Prior to this school year, I stayed at home with my two children, ages 8 and 11, who are students at St. Linus. From 1995 to 1999, I taught First and Second Grades at St. Linus. I am a graduate of St. Linus myself, and am a life-long parishioner.
Receiving a degree in Early Childhood Education from St. Xavier University, most of my experience has been with children from ages birth through Third Grade. This includes many clinical and student teaching opportunities through St. Xavier. Before that, I also earned a degree from Moraine Valley Community College and spent a year teaching at their on-campus Child Care Center. I attended Mother McAuley High School and was actively involved in their "Little School" Pre-K program during my Senior year. I also have extensive experience in all areas of art and spent time when I wasn't teaching, working in art-related fields. As you can see, I have spent most of my life involved with education at the Early Childhood level. I chose to specialize in this area of education because I know the importance of these early years.
It is my belief that a strong foundation in Early Childhood will enhance your child's educational experiences throughout their life. I feel that as a St. Linus graduate, teacher, and parent our school offers a complete learning and faith-centered environment. My philosophy includes a positive attitude towards learning, being sensitive to each child's individual needs and development, and encouraging creativity. Also my goal is to provide a safe, friendly environment that enables learning, indoor/outdoor play, social/emotional and motor skills, and knowing when it is time for cooperation or independence. Of course we will be having fun too!
There will be a parent orientation for Pre-School on August 19, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. in Room 9. I look forward to meeting with all of you and answering any questions at that time. Pre-School handbooks will be distributed at the orientation. The handbook will contain a lot of useful information. Attached is a copy of our supply list. Please send the supplies on the first day of school, which will be August 25, 2010. I am very enthusiastic about the Pre-School program at St. Linus. I am thrilled to have this opportunity, and I hope that you and your child are looking forward to lots of fun, friends, and learning rooted in faith.
Have a safe and wonderful summer,
Ms. Susan Morg
