Thank you, parents, for sending me this "sweet" group. The first week was great and I have enjoyed getting to know each child. They are all unique and special. I know it is going to be a great year.
I know in first grade the teachers listed the students homework in their Monday blog. In my class I do not post homework on my blog because I am trying to bring the students a step further in understanding responsibility. I will write the assignments on the board at the end of each day. The homework will be based on the subjects that need more attention and will help in mastering the concepts that were taught that day. At the end of the day I assign the homework necessary for that night.
After I have written the assignments on the board, the students copy it in their assignment notebook just as it is written on the board .I look over each child's assignment notebook and draw a smiley face. This will let you know that the homework listed is written correctly. I will also let you know in their assignment tablet when a test is coming up. You will be notified several days in advance so that you will be able to study with your child.
I will also be posting grades on Engrade. As a parent you will be given a code for your child so you can look up your child's grades throughout the year. I usually post all the grades, for the work that was done that week, on Fridays. It allows you to see how your child is doing in each subject.. There will be further information coming home so that you will know how to create an account online for you and your child.
Please feel free to contact me with any problems or just anything great to share. I am very approachable and would love to communicate through an email, by letter or by a phone call. I look forward to meeting all of you at Open House
